We are extremely happy to announce that the highly anticipated upgrade has already started taking shape at templatic office. Since the initial release of Geo Places we have received a ton of your suggestions (thank you so much for that) so we have a pretty good idea of what you want to see added to Geo Places. That said, you can post your suggestion in a Geo Places v4 dedicated forum. And while we’re talking about feedback, are you happy using the forum for those actions? What do you think about implementing a special script for bug reporting and general feedback? We had this in mind -> http://uservoice.com/feedback

Here’s some of the key things that we plan to include in new version of the theme..

  • Recurring PayPal payments
  • Multi Region, Multi City
  • WPML compatible
  • Social Media logins
  • Security revised completely
  • User profiles
  • Custom field management – per category :)
  • The code will be based on a new framework, making upgrades easier
  • Supporting WP Mega menu
  • Better events, better listings
  • Any and all bug fixes
  • Much more..

And this is just some of the big ones among lots and lots of small new updates coming up into this theme (I’ve got a 3 page brief on my table containing bullet points of the new features + improvements to be done on this theme). Personally, I am sure this will be the most advanced theme of it’s kind that is available anywhere (and also better than any similar theme that is to be published elsewhere :)

Now that you know it’s coming be sure to keep an eye on our Twitter feed and Facebook page. Some things are too short for a blog post, but equally interesting :)

Again, thank you so much for your support with Geo Places! I think it’s safe to say that the theme wouldn’t be the same without your suggestions and support. I am disabiling comment for this post and would like to invite you to the discussion over at out our support forums

Ever since templatic.com started we’ve released at least 2 themes per month on average. On few occasions we even managed to release three themes in a single month. However, time has changed and you probably already noticed that most of our newer additions are “app-like” themes which are way different than simple magazine and portfolio themes. These themes demand a lot more time and effort when it comes to research, designing, programming totally new functionalities and so on.

On the other hand, WordPress as well has evolved to a totally different height with lots of new possibilities. Some of our popular themes like Real Estate, Job Board, E-commerce Themes, GeoPlaces etc. need a well-deserved facelift. On top of that, several recently released themes like Daily Deal, PlusOne etc. need some important additions.

This leads us to a decision of releasing one theme per month instead of two. The additional time will give us time on upgrading existing themes and spend some more time on a theme that we release every month.

This directly affects our existing club members and we would love to know your views on what do you think about this decision.

Monsoon is in full swing here in India and for the most part, it’s quite enjoyable. So, for me the off-hours activities narrow down to having coffee and reading books. And it was last Sunday afternoon while reading a novel, it struck me, why not a WordPress theme for Publishers?

Yes, that’s right. We will be releasing a niche WordPress theme for publishers and book authors where they can not only showcase their work but also sell their digital books online. We have tried to make it as relevant as possible for book authors by including features most required by them. Although the feature list is still growing, we can’t wait to give you a teaser.

Even though our main focus is for digital books, it can be used to showcase and sell any kind of digital products – Music files, Themes, Software, Icon bundles etc. The custom fields in the theme can be managed by the admin so, you can easily change the fields that match with the product you are selling.

More than one book

As per the name of the theme, this theme is not limited to mere one book. You can showcase unlimited books with a dedicated detail page for each of the books you have published.

Sell your digital products

Each book page in the theme have two options.

  1. Custom Link: You can specify a custom link that leads to another site such as e-junkie, your affiliate link, a link to Amazon book store or any other.
  2. Upload & Sell: This option will let you upload .zip file of your product or let you specify a download link. In front-end, when a user clicks on Buy button, they will be taken to Paypal and once they make the payment, they will receive login credentials to your site. Once they log-in, they will be able to download the product zip file you uploaded. Isn’t that cool?

E-junkie integration

The theme also support e-junkie integration. This means you can showcase your products nicely using this theme and can manage the entire selling process via e-junkie – the easiest and most trusted way of selling digital products. Once you enable this, users will be able to “add-to-cart” the products and “view shopping cart” of e-junkie on your site.

PayPal supported

This theme will support PayPal payment gateway.

Not an e-commerce theme

Though it works that way, this is not entirely an e-commerce theme and hence, it will not have all the features that our other e-commerce theme have. This theme is built for Publishers to showcase their work in a very professional manner and sell them.

Your turn. Any feedback before we release it?

Are you an author? What do you think of the Publisher theme? Do give us your feedback in the comments and its entirely likely that we will include them before we release this theme.

Hi everyone!
To help you set up your themes ever faster/easier we are planning on doing more guides and tutorials. We already have some of them planned out but we’d love to hear your input on this. This can be a theme specific guide like the one we published a few days ago, or it can be a general guide like the one about PRGrep.

So, if you have a guide in mind please comment bellow or send an email to vedran@templatic.com

Note: After you download a theme from Templatic please open and study the theme documentation guide for your theme; it’s filled with useful theme-specific content. These tutorials are just an extension, TDG should always be your No. 1 source for theme information and support.
