WordPress 3.2, Beta 2 is released and it introduces some new features and major improvements. WordPress CMS keeps getting better and better and there’s no denying it.
Excited? So are we. Some of the new features in WordPress 3.2 are:
Distraction-free writing:
The visual editor’s got a major overhaul. It now allows full-screen mode for distraction-free writing.

HTML editor, too, is also available in the full screen mode. The options which you see at the top, automatically hide while writing a post, and appear again on mouse hover on the top area. Now the writing environment really looks cool. You can now focus on what matters the most – the content. After all, good content is what matters on a website.
Admin User Interface:
This is not a major change, but just a little facelift.

The new admin user interface looks sharp with some minor changes in the positioning of the options.
New Default Theme:
WordPress 3.2 Beta 2 comes with a new default theme – Twenty Eleven. This new theme is based on the popular Duster theme.

What’s new in this theme ?
- Two types of color scheme – light and dark
- Option to change link color. Now there’s no need to delve in coding and make changes to do this task
- Change layout. From the options you can change layout to left sidebar, right sidebar or no sidebar
- New option to show a random image each time a page is viewed
- Text color can also be changed without the need to delve in coding
Admin Bar
Some more links and options are added to the admin bar to make it more useful. e.g. Add new post, page, media, links, user, etc.
Performance Improvements
Things will get faster with the release of WordPress 3.2. There are some under the hood improvements to speed up your website/blog. After all, speed matters.
Browse happy
WordPress wants you to browse happy. What this means ? Whenever you visit the Dashboard using an outdated browser, WordPress will let you know that a new version of the browser is available. It’s always recommended to use the latest version of any browser.
New System Requirements
WordPress 3.2 has new minimum system requirements. It requires PHP 5.2.4 and MySQL 5.0 to run. So ensure that your webhost supports this new system requirements.
Note: This is a Beta release and its not recommended to run on a production environment. Please test this only on test server/environment. Its always recommended to run only a stable version on live environment.
