Tips & Tutorials

Even though there is a lot of support content available via various articles and forum threads we decided it was time to focus on videos as well. Templatic will be producing two kinds of videos from now on:

• Setup and customization tutorials
• Theme Overviews

Setup and customization tutorial videos will be accessible from the following forum thread. These videos are unlisted on YouTube and can be accessed from that thread. Videos will contain information on how to setup specific themes or how to easily customize them. You’ll be able to find these videos in Theme Documentation Guides as well.

Theme Overviews are public videos that are designed to show some of the features within specific themes. At the moment we only have three overview videos, for Reviews, GeoPlaces v4 and DailyDeal theme. That number will constantly grow as we release new themes; we’ll also create overviews for some of the older themes. We’ve created a Theme Overviews playlist on YouTube so you can easily access all of them.

Almost two weeks ago we teased new themes that are coming in the near future. Today is the day you get to see the first of those three themes, a new niche theme that we hope you’ll like – Reviews. Reviews WordPress theme is primarily aimed at enthusiasts who’d like to review things on their website. You can review pretty much anything; from movies to books, from gadgets to software.

With Reviews you (as admin) can add multiple products or services, show descriptions in tabs (with a specially created ‘tabber’ shortcode) insert images and your rating. Also, there are category specific custom fields to show customized information for different kinds of products or services.

Visitors can post their reviews with their rating for the product or service. The review detail page will display your rating for the product separately and it will also display the average rating from ratings posted by all the users.

The attractive and well organized theme structure is best to score you high on search engine rankings. Other exciting features of the Reviews WordPress theme include the homepage slider, rating custom field, list or grid view widgets, etc. Also there are two other widgets for sidebar which will display recent and top reviews.

The theme also comes with unlimited colors that enable you to develop your own style.

First off I’d just like to say Happy New Year to all of you on behalf of the whole Templatic staff! If 2011 was kind to you we all hope 2012 will be just as good; if it was bad, hopefully 2012 will be better. We’re a few days into the new year and everyone is getting back to work, we at Templatic are working on some cool new themes which will show up at our theme store in the near future.

Let’s see what’s coming soon!

The following theme will be the first one to land at Templatic this month. As the screenshot suggests, it is a review theme targeted for bloggers and affiliate marketers who wish to create a review site for different product and services.

Though simple, we’re confident it will be useful for a great deal of WordPress users.

Then comes a totally different, first of it’s kind – Price Compare theme. The theme will prove to be challenging for us to create but once done, we are sure you’d love its design, simplicity and most of all, how it works automagically from the back end.

Lastly, here’s a cool, neat e-commerce theme which is also coming soon. Everything about it is already said earlier so he’re just a fancy screenshot :)

That’s about it for now. Along with this new theme, our team is also working on upgrading existing themes so things might go a bit slow but once it land, it will be firm and solid.
