The much awaited Answers theme for WordPress is here. This is yet another niche specific wordpress application theme from templatic using which, you can charge money while providing a specific service on your site.
Answers theme enables you to create Question Answer portal in minutes in WordPress. Your site visitors can quickly register and Ask or Answer questions listed on the site. They can vote others answer and view profiles of the fellow users. What’s more, each user get their own profile and dashboard on your site and they can manage the questions / answers they have added on your site. Plus, either site admin or, the user who have asked the question can select one “Best Answer” among the answers provided by others on a specific question.

Not only that, as a site admin, you can even enable the “fees” feature where you can charge a specific amount for each question asked on your site. By default, asking question is free. A perfect way to provide paid solution on urgent question. Isn’t it?

It sure has taken a lot of time and efforts for us to build something totally different like this in wordpress. We’d love to get your inputs on this one via comments.

Hi – Great theme. Really good work.
I wonder though if you’d consider adding some more functionality.
First, I agree with Tekamura’s comment (here: http://templatic.com/news/upcoming-premium-wordpress-themes-we-need-your-feedback) that it’d be good to have the option of requiring people who answer questions pay before answering, either as well as those who ask or as an alternative to those who ask.
Second, I would love it if this theme could have the functionality of WPQuestions, i.e., where a person pays to ask a question, that person sets the price, registered members can then answer (for free), and the person asking the question then determines who should win and gets paid.
Many thanks
Richard
Sorry, come to think of it, it’s really only the “Second” set of functionality above, i.e., like WPQuestions, that I’d really love to see implemented. Would you be interested in treating this as a separate job?
Hey Richard, thanks for your input and suggestions. As we mentioned in our post earlier, wpquestion.com is the inspiration behind this theme but charging people for asking question and then distributing that amount among one/more answerers is whole new thing, makes things complex and I am not really sure whether there is market out there for that feature.
Charging people for answering questions can be done but again, I do not see a business model there. Why would someone want to pay – to provide answer? Please correct me if I am wrong and I would definitely like to see some example / requirement for this feature
a RFP-style site could charge for ‘answers’ – lots of business models out there that would allow that, actually…
Nice theme. Any word on when the automotive theme may be out?
Hi there. Many thanks for your response. I agree with you that there’s probably not much value in charging people to provide answers.
However, I do think there’s a business model in distributing a portion of the amount the asker pays to the person who best answers the question, just as WPQuestions is doing. It’s the prospect of the answerers being paid that motivates them to answer and it also sets up a kind of competition as to who can provide the best answer. Perhaps this is too complex for WordPress?
Kind regards
Richard
Ditto. The things become a bit too complex – because the paypal is involved in the process and I am not really sure how much the solution will work for everyone. But I agree on the part that the prize money motivates people to answer the question. Lets see how this launch goes, maybe we will include this model in coming days, depending on the public demand.
@Bhavesh, personally I would not use your theme for techy and/or WordPress help etc, as these type of sites will be ten a penny. For these type of sites charging to ask questions is OK.
Questions are leads and I can see the Q/A concept applied to a different model, a different industry ;-)
In my industry there will be far more people asking questions than people answering them. The people answering will have something tangible to sell/promote. Charging people to ask a question creates a barrier to entry. Charging people to answer questions gives them the potential to make a sale or at the very least capture a lead.
Your work is great, but I feel your themes are sometimes too generic and restrictive. Sure, you can customise the css etc, but I want more than that.
For example, some of your directory type themes do not make any use of custom taxonomies, instead they rely on custom fields which as we know is a bad idea. For me to use these themes would require extensive and expensive custom work to fix something which I feel should already be in these themes, i.e. custom taxonomies.
I think you should make your account creation and ecommerce elements available as separate module so that we can build our own sites how we want them to be, and not how you think they should be.
You’re creating themes for many different niches/businesses but do you know how all these businesses work?
Like I said, they’re too generic and constrictive.
thanks for the detailed comment. Constructive feedbacks like this helps us build things better. Ofcourse we do not understand every business out there and are open to make changes. This is the reason we have now started providing preview to the upcoming themes before we start developing and finalize things – http://templatic.com/news/upcoming-premium-wordpress-themes-we-need-your-feedback and we’ve changed things wherever possible :) .
As for answers theme, as earlier comments suggests, we might include feature for the admin to charge users for providing answers. And your comment makes much more sense where the potential providers want to respond to some queries, now we do see the business model there and will try providing this update in coming days.
As for taxanomies in classifieds theme, one of our user provided this feedback and we changed the way we developed things. In our realestate theme, we have not used custom fields or categories at all. Instead, the things are handled via custom taxamonies and it has really helped us build things better.
Sometime, account creation are must. For example, for themes like Answers and Real Estate where we need to keep track of the things – who have provided what answers and submitted what properties. We’ll see how we can separate things.
Thanks for the constructive feedback, it helps
Nice theme, but what happens with this old layout: http://templatic.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/answers.png … its have a nice sidebar design… (sorry if my english sucks).
its there. The black colorscheme has the similar colorscheme. The sidebar design have been changed slightly after we received feedbacks like – design is too plan and boring.
What an interesting theme! Since there is a “fees’ feature which allows the admin to charge each question posters, I wonder if it also have a feature which gives money to those who helped in answering those questions.
Hi WPClubs. As you’ll see from my comments above, I absolutely agree that this would be a killer feature. Unfortunately it’s not in the theme right now, but here’s hoping… .
Purchased this theme, the section called “Unanswered” is misspelled. You spelled it “UnASnwered” . How do I change it to the correct way? Looked everywhere in the language.php file. No luck!
Hi there – Could you please let us know whether you have any plans to add, in the near future, the ability for a person who asks and pays to ask a question, to allocate some of the amount paid to the person who provides the best answer?
Many thanks
Richard
Hi
Any plans on implementing Facebook Connect so people can login, comment and ask questions with their FB identity?
we considered this while building this theme. its not that building this would have been tough but then the user will be presented with lots of choice. Such as – facebook, twitter, openID and the list goes on.
On the other hand, registration here is real simple and quick that gets job done and the user can move on.
Your opinion on this is welcome :)
Hi, I just bought the theme and there is a glitch: when a question is added there is the option to add an image but the problem is the users can upload images with any size and I think there is no restriction with the number of images! There is no option to restrict the size of the image ?
Hi, I just noticed the Answers Template is gone, there is no more in the Themes Gallery area. What just happened?
Hi, could you please let us know when would you be adding the functionality to allocate some of the amount paid by the person who asks a question, to the person that provides the best answer?
Please explain. Is there another similar theme?
Thank you
Hi, love the theme!
However, would it not be better to make this a buddypress component instead? There you already have all the community features.
