All because of kind feedback and suggestions from cool people from facebook, twitter and other medium, I have been able to raise the quality of premium themes that I have released lately on this site. The themes become popular because I study lots and lots of site in similar niche and try to find out what the end user actually want in the website and then structure and design the theme accordingly.

Right now, I am designing some different kind of portfolio themes and it would be great if you can provide your valuable opinion at this stage. If I ask you that i will build a theme exactly as per your requirement, what would you suggest to include in a portfolio theme? What are the key elements that you want in the theme and how do you want them to appear? Please share the suggestions via comments and lets talk :).

  1. I think if there is a video section in the homepage will be good.

  2. I would love to see a portfolio theme that was geared towards the entertainment industry for models, actors/actresses and musicians that would allow them to establish their web presence and be easy and affordable to maintain. Here is an example of a friend of mine’s site – http://www.aubriewienholt.com/ – this works, but I’d love to see a theme to make it look even better and to make it very easy to maintain.

A theme that highlighted their image portfolio for both portrait and landscape images, their projects and experience, their resume, press releases, their social profiles, their demo reels and media kits.

Thanks for asking! Looking forward to see what you come up with.

  3. Wow! That’s Fabulous – Thank you! I can’t wait!

  4. You guys do fantastic work. Love it. WordPress is a CMS and you get that.

When I think portfolio theme I think photographer. That means:

    - Wide columns for posting images. 400 pixels won’t work. More like 700-800 pixels.

-That also means that the categories and archive might be better served at the bottom.

    - You also need good photo gallery functionality with the ability to group and categorize pictures. These categories should appear in the drop downs on your home page. It should also be easy to share and post the images in your galley to your blog or Facebook.

    - Speaking of social media. It would be nice to have the facebook or twitter feed plugin for this team. Lots of social marketing in the creative industries.

    - Also, you want a custom dynamic header. It would be nice if the header pull images our of your galleries at random.

    Good photography blog examples:

    • thanks for your detailed comment. Agreed that there are not much themes that actually works for photographers. Mostly, they prefer flash websites but a wordpress theme would really help and make things easy if done right. Cool idea.

  5. something like your portfolio is good. Can you release that for your next PT.net theme?
