About time we show you a preview to next theme. Scheduled to be released early next month, our next theme is all about the location map. Yes, we have GeoPlaces theme to cater to this but its much too advanced and many users need a simple theme that lets them add places on a map and create location guide websites.
WP Locator, our next theme will cater to this purpose. You can create a dedicated small site to serve different purposes like store locator for big brands, a site dedicated to the places you have traveled, location guide on specific topic for example “Chocolate shops in London” and so on.
Of course, the theme will have regular WordPress features, like dedicated blog and features you usually see in WordPress themes. Along with that, with this theme you will be able to add a place from wp-admin, add photos and content about the place, etc. The full screen homepage will list all the places as a map marker. You click on that and you will be taken to that full screen page showing map of that place while showing you details of the place.
We are excited about this simple, yet unique theme. What do you think?
Sounds interesting. We it be possible to transition from a populated GeoPlaces themed website to this WP Locater theme and retain the places data?
Locator will be a lot different from GeoPlaces, missing most of the functions. True successor to GeoPlaces v3 will be the upcoming v4
Do you already have GeoPlaces V4 release date? I do wait to get it and launch new site.

Seems like a great idea. I think you may need to ethink the colours of the theme…a bit harsh and haloweeny.

We’ll take your suggestions into consideration. Also, it’s likely the theme will have multiple skins so the final look of the site will still be up to you

Like Bhavesh said earlier, hopefully by the end of the year.
I hope it’s really a well done theme. And not just in terms of design.
However, like Alvin, we expect an update to GeoPlaces. Also because we paid but we’ve never been able to use because it has never been decent.
Who knows. Maybe the WP Locator to make our case and maybe we would use it instead of GeoPlaces. But we must see it finished, it can be better assessed.
Hope you are taking part in alpha release of V4? We expect to push beta version this month with all the updates and improvements mentioned in forums. I personally think this will be available around christmas.
Beta release will be the time when you really should give it a go and complain whatever you want to. That will help us improve and make the product solid before we push the final release.
I think the themes has a nice little idea for many blogglers since many of them like to travel (and who doesn’t right?) … can’t wait to see the final product!

It seems that the themes are very different, just by looking at the WP Locator screenshot and The Navigator live demo. They do share the description and the general idea, but I think that’s about it :)

Very excited by this theme. The design is nice, the full screen approach is a boon, but the map performance is bogus I’m sorry to say. It’s super sluggish and the white transparent overlay with “loading” animation only highlights that. What service are you using? Is there a reason you didn’t choose Google Maps?
If that was improved, I’d buy it in a heart beat. (And I already own quite a few of your themes)

Hey, what is the CSV places upload size limited to? And do I have to preset the extra fields before or after upload. and one last Christmas wish…where can I find an address to Long/lat converter..(bulk) Thanks and Merry CHRISTMAS ALL
The theme doesn’t have a set CSV limit, but the general WP limit is probably in affect (the same limit for images). You shouldn’t touch the default fields inside the csv file, just leave them as they are – they won’t appear in your data. Sorry, I don’t know any bulk converter. Love this theme. Is it possible to create routes on the map? I’m planning a multi-year series of cycling ventures and want to visually display the routes, or at least provide that option for interested viewers. Thanks!

Another question then . . . would your site facilitate audio? I would probably use the About feature for my blog narrative and substitute the Directions feature for Video or Audio. Possible? Thanks!
