Update streak continues with Vacation Rental and seasonal prices

Vacation Rental is a Templatic theme for showcasing rental houses and similar properties. Nice looking design and an easy-to-use booking form made this theme a fan-favorite. There was however one feature missing, a feature that we’re including with this update – seasonal prices. If this is the first time you are reading about Vacantion Rental make sure you visit the initial blog post and sales page.

With seasonal prices you are now able to define a different price for specific time-frames during a year. The theme allows you to create as many seasonal prices as you want/need. As you can see in the screenshot above, the section is easy to understand and setup.

This update is completely free for all current Vacation Rental owners. To get the update visit the member area and download the latest version of Vacation Rental. All those interested in purchasing the theme can do so by clicking here

Along with already mentioned seasonal prices Vacation Rental also comes with Closing Days functionality. With this functionality you can quickly make specific dates unavailable for booking – for instance when you are using the house.

We can use it now!

It might be good to determine the absolute essentials on future themes, from members.
As seasonal flexibility on vacation rentals, may have been in them.
Helping you guys pin down the priorities.

This was long awaited.. I bought the theme more than 8 months ago and it has been useless till now..

Hi,

I’m struggling with how to upload this new version without losing all the work I’ve done in the old version.

Will this upload give me a new, fresh and empty website. Or will it retain some or all of my new web pages, amended widgets, and other data?

  Updating the theme shouldn’t affect your content (posts/pages) in any way. The only thing you will lose are your customizations. That said, I recommend you backup your whole site before proceeding with this update (database + theme files). Backing up data never hurt anyone :)

OK,

I’m trying but wordpress fails to upload the new version of the theme saying:

“Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home/taffod/skylinehouse.co.uk/wp-content/themes/VacationRental/

Theme install failed.”

Any ideas?

  You need to update the theme manually, WordPress installed won’t work for this. For more details on updating themes check out this article

Hi.

Is it possible with this theme, apart form seasonal adjustments, to add things like booking fee, cleaning fee, TAX etc.

At the moment from what I can see the price that is generated and emailed to the client is not the final price.

  Sorry, there is no way to charge for those things. While you can add custom fields and enable users to leave more data while checking in, there is no way to charge for extra services.

  There are no plans for upgrading Vacation Rental again soon. You can include tax inside the prices and just mention somewhere on the site that all prices already include tax. Adding new fields to the booking form is possible (using custom fields) but there is no way to monetize those fields. At the moment such functionality is only available in our HotelBooking theme.
