Visiting Card

Posted on

Famous designer TimVanDamme designed his mini site and everyone praised it a lot for unique, beautiful concept. Usually, it happens when you are really active on social media sites, you blog less. And his design was a perfect solution for those who have a domain name but don’t need/want much content on the website.

Immediately, I had this feel to release a wordpress theme in similar concept but I thought it wouldn’t be a good idea as many would think it was a stealing. However, many sites were inspired from his designed and tim actually liked that and he featured those designs on his site as Wall of Fame.

I am glad that Tim actually liked sites inspired from his original design so I decided to make it. Created few designs and finally liked one different looking concept (featured below) and coded it up. Special thanks goes to this tutorial for the smooth JQuery look for the awesome code.

So, here’s Visiting Card theme for WordPress that you would love set up on your personal website.

The good thing about Visiting Card theme is, you won’t have to touch a single line of code. The theme comes with Theme Control Panel from where you could set all the aspects of the theme. If you don’t need some of them to show, simply leave them blank and they won’t appear.

Love the mini theme and thanks for sharing!
Is it ok to modify the theme as long as your link remains intact?

    Thanks, Richard

I’m glad you liked it. As I mentioned, the theme is released under GPL license so feel free to use it anyway you want. Don’t forget to inform me when you are done so I can give you link love too :)

Bhavesh, very good job with this theme. I have been contemplating going to this type of format with my personal blog for a few months now but can’t decide. But if I do decide to go this route, I know where I can find a free theme.

I wanted to release this theme few months back but as I said, I wasn’t sure on its impact. The theme download count is increasing fast and I think, I will have to release more designs of the same theme in future.

Thanks, I thought that is what it meant but I didn’t want to end up on the wall of shame so just making sure. I want to add two links on the page if I can figure out how to to it. I would like to add a link to two of my other web sites, is there a easy way to do that?

    Thanks in advance, Richard

I personally communicated with Tim on this one and he is fine with the theme design. So no, it won’t end up on wall of shame.

in contact page, you may mention your website link. If you want more, you would need to edit index.php and add links manually.

Thanks, I’m glad I want end up on the wall of shame! I’ve made several changes now so I’m on my way to getting it the way I want it!

Thanks again for the theme and your help, Richard

    P.S. I’ve tweeted your message!

Very nice. I hadn’t seen this kind of thing, and you’re right about it being perfect for non-bloggers.

For those who are more active in many social networking sites, could I point you to I don’t work for them or anything, but they take this concept to the next level. (The URI on my name is to my retaggr profile as an example. Hope that’s okay!)

    Cheers from USA!

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

thanks for the link matt. Theirs is kind of different concept but it sure will be useful for some.

Thanks a lot for this “gift” ! I use rettagr but only because it was easy. I think it’s very practical but not very nice (I’m not fond of the design) ans most of all I don’t want to see their ad…
So yours seem to be perfect !

Hey, very good job indeed. Just what I was looking for. However, I have this question: why can’t I change the title of the page? It always says “Premium”, no matter what I put in the title tags. Can I change it or this is how it’s supposed to be?

  15. John (Human3rror) says:

Thanks R. Bhavesh! I’ve customized your theme for a client who let me release it to the public! Great stuff! //

Love the design – I understand there is no support for the free themes, but perhaps someone can help me solve this problem. I uploaded an image using the WordPress uploader, copied the URL into the profile photo field, made sure the image is 60 pixels by 60 pixels (and even tried 59 pixels by 59 pixels) yet I get the blue question mark of death when I save the changes. Help!

Hi. I’m using this on my “vanity site” at //

A heads-up on a couple of things. First of all, you might want to add places for LinkedIn and Vimeo profiles. :)

Secondly, your biz name on the pages’ TITLE BAR annoyed me no end, so I just set up a colophon on the about page giving you mad props there. That’s more correct anyway. The title bar … should be mine and mine alone.
