Realtr has been released! Learn more about the theme in this blog post

theme for real estate

The title says it all. Two years back we released theme for Real Estate – one of the best real estate themes for WordPress. As part of our upgrade process of existing themes, Real Estate theme is getting a face lift this month. That means custom fields, custom post type for properties, custom user fields – the whole shabang!

But this post isn’t about Real Estate theme, oh no, we’re working on another real estate gem! Above is the teaser to what’s coming but the real beauty is in the back end. Plus, there are lots of new things which is not previewed here at all.

Watch out this blog for further announcement on this. For even more info about these two themes make sure you’re following us on Facebook and Twitter. This is going to be interesting :)

  1. Mark says:

The features of http://www.vacationrentalscript.com would be welcomed.
This is for renting vacation properties (Villas)
(The Templatic Vacation Rental, but for more than one)

MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is Fully Multi Language (always missing on Templatic themes)

Same for the Templatic property sales one

Multiplies the people that can use the site, by each language possible.

Use on mobiles is the second most important feature, now.

    1. Vedran says:

Thanks for the suggestion. The feature set isn’t final yet I don’t really know what’s coming at this point. If possible, we’ll definitely try to make the theme responsive (like TechNews for example).

  2. Removals says:

Wondering if the them can be used in Bangla language .

    1. Vedran says:

You should be able to translate the theme into any language, including Bengali. RTL languages give additional headaches but you won’t have those problems.

  3. Tony says:

Sold, New Price, Under Offer icons on each listing would be great.

  4. David Gikandi says:

Yes, mobile is a MUST. In many countries now, including mine, MOST people check real estate sites on the go from their phones, not from the house computer, so it makes sense to make mobile accessibility a key, must-have feature.

Also, can we import the properties and agents from the old real estate template? We will need that to be able to migrate.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi David
As I replied to Mark earlier, we’ll definitely try to make it responsive. In GeoPlaces v4 the google maps stopped that from happening, hopefully we won’t hit any roadblocks now.

      1. R.Bhavesh says:

This Real Estate theme will be responsive.

  5. Anders says:

    Hi Templatic,

Great news for me. I hope you also think about to add functions for:

    Property Type:

    Land etc

and also so you can set price per day for holiday rentals as well as..

Looking forward to see this theme

  6. George says:

When is the new real estate template going to be ready?

    1. Vedran says:

We’re aiming to release it this month

  7. danny says:

Just clearing out something – Responsive sites are different from Mobile sites. Responsive kind of reduces the desktop site to display on mobile devices. The disadvantage is that there are still some stuff that responsive sites allow, which mobile users simply don’t need.
Responsive sites are well suited for small table devices eg Samsung Galaxy.
But phones like Nokia, BB, iPhones, Samsung, etc need a full blown mobile theme of their own combined with a theme switcher, which detects what user agent is coming in and serves the right theme.
    Think about it.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Danny
Yes, we realize that there is a big difference between a true mobile site and a responsive one. That said, most popular mobile operating systems will render these responsive sites great. Older devices may struggle with that but they are pretty rare these days. Almost everyone has either an iPhone, Android or WP7. New Blackbery devices come with a Webkit browser that also works great.

  8. Mibut says:

Please keep everything as normal posts and not change to “products” or similar.
All for going forward but found that search engine wise posts are much much better

    1. Vedran says:

Using custom taxonomies makes managing listings much much easier, both for us and for the end user. Custom taxonomy for properties has already been implemented into the theme.

  9. Ray says:

The ability to register as a buyer, seller, investor, agent, or whatever name is chosen by an admin, with payment gateway integration, or free.

When the admin creates a new user type, a new house category is created with the view only those types of user listings.

Add/Delete property type, again automatically populating a new search option.

Editable Search Result display. Users should be able to set the text in the home row, and what is shown as a brief summary.

Ability for buyers to follow agents and investors. IE, notified of new properties listed.

Friend’s system for IM, CHAT, etc…

Investor/Agent “custom” urls. Can be as simple as domain.com/custom_name, or fully unique URLs. Should be an add-on paid feature.

Tags with specific property types: Seller, Agent, Investor, + sold, reduced (needs reduce function in user admin section).

Bump free listing to top of the search results once listed (user defined one time fee)

Show user defined featured listings at the top of every search result.

Custom Agent themed page (change between pre-defined colour schemes for example)

    Much cleaner integration into PayPal.

  10. Tim says:

IDX intregration with your search widget would be great! Two popular IDX integrations are DiverseSolutions and Flexmls. I use them both.

Also the option to use IDX Feeds in the “Similar Properties widget” that I seen your original template has. That way we can use other listings in the mls, not just ours for additional marketing in the location of our listing.

Excited to see what all will be available so I can finally get my wordpress site the way I want it with your template(s).

  11. Engin says:

I really can’t wait for the update :) I stopped custimizing my site because I am waiting for the update. Please, be fast! :)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Engin
      We’ll definitely try :)

  12. Mike says:

How is the new real estate theme different from the old one? Do you have a feature list?

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mike
We don’t have a full feature set ready just yet. We’ll officially announce the theme when we’ll know what made the cut and what didn’t.

  13. Khaled says:

I hope the new theme has two important functions:
-To be able to edit (add or change) the search parameters. and,
-To be able to search dealers based on location, i.e. city or zip code.

Special thanks for your efforts templatic team :)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Khaled
      1. All created custom fields can be included inside the advanced search page template. Same functionality as currently available in our Geoplaces v4 theme
      2. City and zip code search is already possibly in RealEstate theme. It will be possible in the new one as well

  14. Khaled says:

And yes, maybe a facebook login integration would be great, this will enable ordinary visitors (not agents) to easily login via their facebook accounts and submitting new listing.

    1. Vedran says:

If you enable registrations on your site anyone can register. You don’t need Facebook login in order to enable visitor-submissions. It’s already possible!

  15. Sorin says:

hey, for rent or booking car when you release something?

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi there
We don’t have any immediate plans for this. For car selling you have Automobile

  16. Mark says:

The ability to switch between two languages is a must

    (not just localize for one)

e.g. English and Spanish, for a Spanish property site

    1. Montreal web design says:

      +1 for multilanguage

I need english and french since its a law here in montreal to have a site with french and english if your business is located locally.

  17. Engin says:

Here are some improvements I would like to see:

    – Option to add listings for free. So the property duration price won’t show up on the property registration page when you set the option on FREE in the admin panel.

    – The custom fields (property registration page) should be automatically displayed on the property details page (custom order)

    – Captcha included in al forms.

    – Currency converter intergrated in the property detail page so the price can be showed in different currency (see attached picture):

    – Multiple languages, so the user can switch it by clicking on the country flag

    – Improved website loading time

I hope you can use these improvements,

  18. Mike says:

    Suggested Features:

    Ratings and Reviews of properties
    Reservation/Booking/Availability Calendar for Rentals
    Built-in Currency Converter
Property size views BOTH in square feet and square meters
Mortgage Calculator ONLY for properties for sale and not for rentals
Robust billing – payments and listing packages for rental listings only, for sale only or both
Listing ribbons – sold, price reduced, pending sale, rented, etc.
    Open House Section and Calendar
    Map Search
    Subscription or pay per listing
    Seller/Owner Analytics/Reports
    Mobile Version
    GEO-IP features
    Spam protection on all forms
    Unlimited custom fields

    1. Mike says:

      Listings videos
      Unlimited Photos

      1. Engin says:

I think it won’t be a good idea to upload video’s on your own website, because of limited speed/space. I think it will be better to use youtube integration.

    2. Vedran says:

      Thanks for the suggestions Mike
We’re too late into development to include some of these, but stuff like unlimited custom fields are coming!

  19. Jamshid N Nalakath says:

Your themes are really good. I am actually in the process of using your themes for two portal projects. The only thing that I find difficult is the RTL style. Please make your themes RTL compliant and with translation options ready.

In that way, we can use your themes for running good portals.

Also about the automobile theme, it’s ideal for only 1 single dealer. If you could come up with something similar to Real Estate for automobiles, it would be great. I am sure that you will need no time to get this done as the script would be exactly the same as Real Estate, only change of some terms.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. Khaled says:

This is actually the objective behind my question regards the ability to change and add the search parameters; because if so you we easily apply this theme as automobiles portal! I am thinking to apply this theme as automobile portal if the upcoming function will help!!

    2. Vedran says:

Sorry to disappoint but we don’t have any plans to make this theme RTL ready.

I like the idea about a new Automobile theme. We’ll definitely give that some thought :)

  20. jason says:

Please make sure this has the choice of a Single user company. and not just a real estate portal!!

There are many companies out there that are looking for a website for there company – and not a portal.

If you could give this the option: also

    Youtube video under the description
Nice slick feature property header – not to heavy and Bulky

Im looking forward to seeing it.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

You can simply disable user registration + submit property with even the current theme. Once you do this, only admin can add property from backend.

  21. el Rafa says:

Please add the HotelBooking theme functionality, including search (slightly modified for vacation rentals), and add an option in the admin to allow search for rentals only.

  22. Mark says:

    As with Hotels.

Virtually ‘ALL’ Real Estate Agents list their properties with at least one major property portal.

Clients will be reluctant to use this software, to display their properties, if they have to maintain two lists.

If this software can be linked to those databases using industry standards, or just include their results/pages, it will become ‘more suited to it’s use’.

It has to work in the ‘real world’, for the majority of potential clients/website owners.

  23. Jamshid N Nalakath says:

    Hey Templatic Team,

What would be the best option to make many of your templates RTL ready? You are missing out on a big percentage of Middle East and African users due to this.

Do you have a customization department which can get this done?

Also an option for corporate agents (real estate agent companies) and individual agents (persons) would be good.

Looking forward to your theme. All the best.

    1. Vedran says:

Unfortunately we don’t have a team that does this. At the moment the only way to get a theme RTL-ready is to customize all the css files. I’m afraid there is no easier/faster way.

  24. Ahmet says:

It will also be nice if the price shows decimal (exmp: £1.500)

  25. Dean says:

Please could you guys include more payment gateways into the new theme. Thanks. When is the release date?

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Dean
We probably won’t be including new gateways into this one. The release date is unclear just now, the theme will come by the end of the month for sure!

  26. kris10haley says:

    Hello :)
Was wondering how it works with the MLS? Will it pull just the listings from specific agents (like does it have user name/pw integration) or will it just pull from the whole thing?
I like the look! Keep up the good work!

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Yes, this theme will be IDX/MLS compatible, you will be able to list those listings on your site.

  27. David says:

You mentioned custom fields. I am looking to create a site similar to //www.bizben.com/ This is a website which lists businesses for sale. Will your custom fields allow changes to allow this type of website? Allow business data entry and listing of businesses for sale. Also…have a search option on the home page which can be edited? Thanks.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi David
Custom fields in RealEstate 2 and the new theme will work similarly to how they currently work in GeoPlaces v4. Go to //test.templatic.com/ and test-run GeoPlaces. That will give you a pretty good idea of what you can do with custom fields.

  28. Sunny says:

Was considering buying the Real Estate theme. Would you recommend to wait and see the new Real Estate theme before buying, Whe is the new theme expected to be released.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Sunny
We’re expecting to release the new theme by the end of the month, likely next week. If you don’t need a theme urgently I suggest you wait a little

  29. Michael says:

    Hi Vedran,

Do you offer a hosted solution? I like your themes but I keep reading negative reviews about bugs, security and support. What is your refund pr guarantee policy?

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Michael
No, we don’t offer any hosting, only themes. Like most other premium theme developers we also have a no-refund policy. To figure out if our themes are for you is to create an account at test.templatic.com/. That site should answer most of your questions. If you need some one-on-one time I’m always available at //scr.im/vedran (click to see the email).

  30. Michael says:

What map version are you using with your themes? Do we need an API key from google?

    1. Vedran says:

Our themes are using Google Maps v3, you don’t need an API key for them to work.

  31. Turd Ferguson says:

    Hey Guys.

Looks awesome! Can’t wait to see it!

Quick question. Any plans to have a Leads Management System?

Also, a suggestion for a feature I know real estate agents will love.

Force sign-up after viewing a certain number of listings. So after viewing three listing, when users click the 4th listing a modal window will prompt them to sign-up or login, or they will be re-directed to a login/sign-up page.

Not sure if it’s too late for these features, but would love to see them.

Either way, I’m sure the theme will be great.

    1. Vedran says:

No, we don’t have any plans for a leads management system. As far as the feature you requested goes…unfortunately we’re late into development and can’t commit to any new features at this point. Thanks for the suggestion though!

  32. Adrian says:

Will the update be free to customers who recently bought the old theme?

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Adrian
RealEstate theme update will be free for all who have a valid license. When you purchase a theme the licence is valid for one year. In other words, if you purchased RealEstate in the last 11 months – you can upgrade for free.

  33. Jamshid N Nalakath says:

A quick question. Is this an update of the real estate theme or a completely new theme? This question arose because of the answer to the update issue in the previous question.

    1. Vedran says:

This teaser post is about a new real estate theme. However, we’re also working on an update for our RealEstate theme. An update will come shortly after the release of this new theme.

      1. Adrian says:

I think my question was incorrect….Will people who bought the old theme be able the get the new theme for Free as a upgrade…..within the licence period of course.

        1. Vedran says:

Sorry to disappoint but that won’t be possible. Current RealEstate users will only be able to download RealEstate2 for free. To use Realtr (the new theme) they’ll have to purchase it. We released Realtr today! You can read all about it here

  34. David Gikandi says:

Another VERY important ability – import. Import needs to be robust. For example, we might have 200 agents, each agent has a spreadsheet of properties they email us. we should be able to import those listings for that agent. the current theme dumps all imports into the admin’s account, which doesnt help at all. many real estate businesses cross-list with other agents.

also, import should be self-serve and simple, for the agents themselves as well, so they can DIY without having to email us the spreadsheet. good import can be a game changer cause it allows for scale and speed.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi David
Thanks for the suggestions but it’s too late to implement them at this point. We’ve refined Bulk Upload functionality but I’m afraid it won’t be as robust as you mentioned.

  35. Tocados says:

Se podría incluir un módulo para reservas (tipo hotel…?

    1. Vedran says:

Sorry to disappoint but that functionality isn’t coming. There will be no booking module included with the new real estate theme.

  36. Tomislav says:

When will you release this theme? Next week? Your old Real Estate theme is great, but it lacks many funcionalties.
We are looking at Classipress solution, but visually – your old theme is much better.

Can you tell us some more info about this new theme? Will it be worth waiting for it? :)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Tomislav
No, we’re not releasing it next week, we released it today! Read all about the new (Realtr) theme here:

  37. Tomislav says:

Excellent work Vedran. Will look into it.

    Thumbs up

  38. Mark says:

Wow.. that quick release shocked them. Which is good, with all the desperation on the last one.

Please set out how this theme differs from an upgrate in the original ‘Real Estate’ theme, due later.

For those wishing to plan ahead… as we can delay planned sites, to fit.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mark
The RealEstate2 upgrade is coming sometime this month. The front-end for that theme will look exactly how it looks now. All the difference will be in the back-end. As far as back-end is concerned RealEstate2 will have similar features as Realtr. It will come with advanced custom fields, price packages, etc. By far the biggest difference between these two themes will be design. RealEstate2 likely won’t be responsive…

  39. Mark says:

    Thanks for the swift reply.
    Though a little strange.

As an update is less logical, if improvements are minimal (being responsive will be essential for the future)

Time spent making the ‘events’ theme responsive, could be a better use of that development time.
We are sure you know what you are doing :)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mark
Improvements for RealEstate2 are far from minimal. It didn’t make sense to change the design since we have Realtr now and most people like the look of the RealEstate theme. The back-end was completely re-written and new features were added. If you could see the back-end you’d know what I’m talking about :)

  40. Mark says:

We will wait to it see the two, once finished and decide then how we can use them
    Thank you

IDX/MLS integration is good for US real estate agents.

UK ones would need it to conntect to RightMove.co.uk or similar.

    Rightmove v3 specification (currently RMV3 r3)

  41. Anders says:

Dont show any pics at when I try the site from my imac or ipad…

And I dont see search for TYPE

I really hope that you can search for type in the other real estate theme. Its a big different if you are looking for a house or condo a business etc..

    Mabye Im wrong about this…

    1. LeaningWP says:

I too like to know if is possible to modify the theme and add the “property type” as part of the search bar. – this is important for end-users.

      1. Vedran says:

        Hi guys
First option inside the sidebar searchform is a radio button where you select Buy/Sale properties. Is that what you had in mind?

        1. LearningWP says:

No. What I believe we mean is the ability to search by property type. ie: condo, land, etc.

If this is not possible, can the theme be modify to include our own custom drop down?

Another thing we notices this morning is that the theme does not display currently… (currently looking at it tru a zoom table)

          1. Vedran says:

There is no special place for creating property types, but you can use property tags to differentiate condos from land, etc. You can also create specific categories for villas, condos or land. With custom menus you can easily create drop-down menus for each.

        2. Anders says:

I mean same function you have on this site. Its your theme and they added so its possible to search “type”

  42. Mike says:

The real estate template is good and just exactly what I need. Hope that your templates doesn’t come up with a hefty price.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mike
Prices for our themes have been pretty much the same for a while. While Realtr isn’t free for existing Real Estate users, Real Estate 2 is. You can read more about that theme here:

  43. gaurav says:

This theme and your previous real estate and real estate 2 theme has a major bug of 404 error while we click page 2, 3 and so in view more and search properties.

First resolve this old bug from your themes and then launch it

    check error.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Guarav
This bug has been fixed ages ago. The demo site is still running the initial version of the theme, all users have access to the latest version – the latest version doesn’t have issues like this.

  44. gaurav says:

this guy is following you so much but your team hasn’t solved problem yet

    //templatic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=9708&start=0 check here

    1. Vedran says:

It’s an isolated problem. Pagination is working just fine on my test site. We’ll take care of his issues, don’t worry about it :)
