We are back with theme of this month and happy about the efforts put-in by the team. We’d like you to know that a couple of energetic youngsters have joined our team so that’s an added excitement. While some of our folks are busy with GeoPlaces 4, we have managed to create another geo-based theme, a location guide of sorts, WPLocator WordPress Theme.

WP Locator theme

As previewed earlier, WPLocator is all about locations and maps. If you were expecting portal theme with lots of features, sorry to disappoint. WPLocator is about keeping things simple and to the point.

For example, lets say you wish to create a Store Locator mini site for a retailer brand or “chocolate shops in paris” or “Places I have been to” kind of travel journey site etc.

WP Locator theme occupies your entire screen with the map you have selected from your wp-admin and showcases it in beautiful manner at front end. You can have details about the content, user comments etc.

Not only that, the standard WordPress blog and regular features are also included for those who wish to have WordPress regular pages and posts as well in their site.

Plus, the theme comes with Style & Color settings in the backend so you can change basic colors yourself as per your choice.

Overall, we are sure this theme will be useful to almost everyone for creating this unique kind of “mini map directory”.

Demo the theme here and head over to Sales page and Buy the WP Locator theme.

So, what do you think of this theme? You like?

Other note: Next top priority in our list is to push beta version of GeoPlaces V4. We think we will be able to push to beta version before end of this month. Stay tuned!

Share & Win

Like this theme? Want to have it? Help us spread the word about it and who knows, maybe you’ll be among 3 lucky winners who will get it. Just like the past couple of Share&Win contests, the same rules apply here. You can win the theme by tweeting about it (clicking on the Tweet icon below), by sharing/liking this on Facebook (the Share icon below will take you to the Facebook post) or by being the fastest one to provide a correct answer to our contest question. The question will be posted on our Twitter and Facebook feeds sometime in the next 2 weeks. Use the first set of social icons to participate in the contest.

  1. Great.
Is this regarded as this months theme, under the one ‘big’ theme per month, agreement?
    (rather than several small ones)

  2. Nice theme, just got to come up with an idea to use it, it doesn’t hit you with an idea straight away. Maybe GooglePlaces leaves little room for this kind of sites but then again.. who knows.

Personally… I am waiting for GeoPlaces 4 which I can assure you will make you great of money if some of the important changes are carried out as suggested by us all.

  3. Nice!

I purchased a similar theme called The Navigator from ThemeForest (perhaps you’ve seen it :) – but The Locator has a better layout for designers who want to have a website with this type of mapping features and adheres more closely to design ‘best practices’ including use of larger font sizes, etc…

Who did the ‘art’ for Vacation Rentals? It has a much nicer quality of design than some of the others.

  4. Sorry but I found some abnormal things (please take a look to the “red ?”):

That with Chrome and IE …

Also I found not so cool to go on the new page if I click the Direction, Share this on Tweet, Share this on Facebook.

Also… “share THIS” is not true… because I can share the domain (templatic.com etc.) and not the page.

  5. A couple other things…

    1. It won’t let me download the “Places” CSV

    2. Clicking on the Guide from within the theme gets a 404 link error.

  6. The Theme looks great. However, it would have been cool if there was a Form where people can register and add places, like in GeoPlaces.

    • Hi Raja
Albeit similar in their nature, WP Locator and GeoPlaces are designed to do different things. GeoPlaces is a city/community directory with all the bells and whistles, WP Locator is a much smaller theme that people can use to showcase places they have visited. We could have ported the Add Place form here but it wouldn’t have much sense since people can always use GeoPlaces if they need such features. GeoPlaces v4 beta should be released by the end of the year – trust us, it will be worth the wait :)

  7. I like this theme but I’m wondering why didn’t the developer add the “add place” function. This will make more sense with a community feature where anyone can sign up and add a place with similar functions for FREE vs Featured etc…

    • Hi Kev
Since the upcoming GeoPlaces v4 does just that we decided it doesn’t make much sense for both of them to do that. WP Locator is a simpler theme for individuals that want to showcase various locations they’ve visited or companies that want to show all their locations. GeoPlaces v4 is a true community directory – don’t worry, it’s just around the corner :)
