Getting Started with Ecommerce Framework

New to Ecommerce framework or WordPress ? Don’t worry, here’s a complete getting started guide.

To get started, you need:

Server Requirements:

  • WordPress 3.0 or higher
  • MySQL 5 or higher
  • PHP 5 or higher
  • cURL library support with SSL (compiled into to PHP)
  • GD 2 library support
  • Session and memcache support
  • Please ensure that your webhost meets these requirements.

How to install a theme:

There are two methods to install. By using a FTP client or by using the upload feature in the WordPress dashboard. In order to use this framework, you will also need the child theme (typically the theme you’ve chosen or purchased).

Installing Through the WordPress Dashboard:

  • Download Ecommerce Framework and the purchased child theme.
  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Appearance > Themes > Install themes
  • Click on Upload and select the framework zip file from your computer
  • Click on Install Now button
  • Go back to the themes install page, click on Upload and select the child theme zip file from your computer
  • Click on Install Now Button
  • After a successful installation, click on “Activate” to activate your child theme.
  • Note: You do not need to activate the Framework.

Installing Through an FTP client:

  • Download the Ecommerce Framework and the purchased child theme
  • Unzip your Framework and child theme to your local drive (Hard drive). To unzip you can use a freeware utility like 7-Zip.
  • Log on to your server through an FTP client like FileZilla
  • Now navigate to wp-content/themes and upload both Framework and Child Theme folders. They should not be zip files but unzipped folders.
  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard, and go to Appearance > Themes and activate the child theme only. You do not need to activate the framework.

Child theme is now activated and you’ll be able to see the “Theme options” and “Products” menu added to the left hand side on your wp-admin panel. There are various options in this menu. Just hover and decode all the available options.
