Events… very glad it is responsive .

Whilst documentation mentions bulk upload, please, pleeease confirm that one can import old data between ‘Events 1’ and the New ‘Events 2’.

    Thanks

    1. Vedran says:

Situation here is vastly different than the one with GeoPlaces. Events you have now in will work perfectly in Events 2 – taxonomy hasn’t changed, everything should work from the get-go.

  2. Mark says:

    Thanks for the swift reply.

Does one need to import the data for the new theme, or does the Events 2 theme just simply use the old database entries?

(BTW as said before: For ages, this comments system has had a bug where it won’t let you logout as a memebr but demands your name and email when submitting a comment, before losing it. Even though there is no where to enter it!)

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Hi Mark,

We STRONGLY recommend taking backup first, whatever you do. Since the Events theme went through major upgrade, we recommend you import the data from there. Our support guys should be able to better guide you on this.

(we are looking into the comment problem you mentioned as we speak)

  3. Mark says:

OK… so the data does need imported, after deleting the current data (and backing the site up)

There should be an upgrade guide on any theme where there is a legacy of old users.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mark
The upgrading guide is available in our docs center.

Sorry it wasn’t available from the get go, for some reason I thought it was :)

  4. Jason says:

What are the proper steps for upgrading from 1.0 to 2.0?

btw – I had the same issue as Mark when trying to post a comment. I had to use an incognito window.

    Thanks! I’m excited!

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Jason
You can find the upgrading guide in our docs center.

If you’ll have any questions/concerns regarding upgrading just create a ticket at helpdesk.

  5. shob says:

Can you sort them based on location of events? For example, events in USA, UK, India etc..

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi
Such functionality isn’t included by default but you can theoretically create a custom field which will hold this information. In that case sorting won’t work but search will.

  6. Sweetfox says:

Will we have to purchase this new version? Or will it be considered an upgrade from the previous template that I bought 3 months ago?

    Thanks

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi
Existing members have access to Events v2 completely free. Just head over to member area and download the theme.

  7. Am says:

    Awesome upgrade! Thank you!

But I was hoping to see multiple videos for an event feature and was disappointed to find that its not there.
    Any plans on that yet?

Other than that good work as always! :)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi
How do you mean “multiple events for event feature”? Can you elaborate on that a little bit? We can always create more videos… :)

  8. Mark says:

    Thanks for the upgrade doc.

  9. Mehdi Malekzadeh says:

    whay you delete my comment.
    please help me

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Mehdi
I deleted your comment because I already replied to you on Facebook. Also, the comment had nothing to do with Events v2. To deal with actual issues you should always create a ticket in Helpdesk.

      1. Mehdi Malekzadeh says:

        yes youre right.
        sorry

  10. Mark says:

    Am

Just upload movies to YouTube.com and embedd them direct in to the content (wysiwyg) using the code supplied by YouTube.

Means you can have more than 1 video per events (add as many as you wish)

    1. Vedran says:

Yes, this is true Mark. Content window is done using TinyMCE, you will be able to edit it and disable video embedding if this is a big issue.

  11. James says:

    share & win ?

    :(

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi James
Nop, no Share and Win this time. We decided it has run its course and it’s maybe time to try something else. What that “something else” will turn out to be – it’s anyone’s guess at this point :)

      1. James says:

        ok. Thanks… :(

  12. Suman says:

How do I disable claim ownership? I don’t need it.

    1. Vedran says:

There is an option in back-end. Go to Basic Settings -> Events detail page settings. You can disable the button there.

  13. Suman says:

Also, is there a way to bulk edit/delete custom fields that I don’t need?

    1. Vedran says:

Yes and no. While there is no functionality for this inside the theme back-end you can connect to the database and delete them quickly there. They are stored in the wp_templatic_custom_post_fields.

  14. Suman says:

Thanks. by the way, the slider fails if you have the Thickbox plugin activated. FYI.

    1. Vedran says:

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately we cannot make the theme compatible with all plugins. Most of them should work, but some will cause conflicts. If you find one that doesn’t work try finding a different one that does the same thing…

  15. sam says:

Mayb can create event registration on event2 template itsef without going to external website link. Simple registration form when submit, details emailed to event owner (without paying) payment arrangement still up to event owner on their website.

  16. Eric says:

Why does menu disappear when resized back to full width on demo? Does it do that in the purchased version too? I would try it in new demo, but after trying to register i got an error page.

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi Eric
Yes, it does that in the actual theme as well. This is a problem only when “playing” with the theme, your visitors won’t be able to see that happening. That said, I’ll mention it to our coding team and ask them if there is a quick and easy way to fix it.

      Thanks!

  17. YubiBillion says:

Hello there and congrats on the greatlooking theme. As far as I understand , buyres of the theme have access to Events2 .
I have a few other questions:

1)In the top right sidebar on the frontpage, how easy is it to add a featured video (from youtube for instance)or list of videos as a widget just above the events search widget i.e. at the top right of the sidebar. How can this be done if one plans to feature one or several videos in there?

2)I see that one payment method available is paypal pro? This means I need to have a paypal proflow account and then users can order once they have a paypal account. Any other payment modules or options available cos people use lots of different ones like : creditcard direct payments, debit card payments etc. I would like to know how flexible the payment modules are and whether I can easily connect to a gateway or merhant acct. Payments need to be taken from Bulgaria as well as around the world so more options would be good. Also,

    3) The submit event feature from the submission form is for site visitors or authorized users from the wp-admin only or no? becos in the demo its accessible on the site demo and test site? Normally one would create and advertise events for other site visitors to register for and not have everyone creating events. Could you please confirm this, I saw the video here : //templatic.com/news/create-the-ultimate-events-portal-meet-events-v2/ and it was not very clear on whether only the admin or site visitors can also add events. I need only the site admin to be able to do this.

    4)

    1. Vedran says:

      Hi
      1. Since the sidebar is widgetized this is very easy to achieve. You just place the “Featured Video” widget inside the sidebar and you’re done. You can feature several videos by adding several widgets inside that area
      2. Yes, you need a PayPal Pro account to utilize this. If you have a regular PayPal merchant account you’ll have to use regular PayPal. New payment gateways cannot be (easily) added. You won’t be able to use local (Bulgarian) gateways with Events v2. Here’s a list of available payment methods in Events v2
      3. The submission form can be used by anyone, without the need to visit wp-admin. The only condition is that the users register first (or register using the form) – both admin and regular users can use the submission form. Also, you can test this on the test site. You can also have both premium and free price packages.

If you’ll have further questions contact us using the contact form at the top of our website.

      Cheers

  18. YubiBillion says:

In follow up to question 3) I see that the idea seems to be to be able to charge others for adding their events to your events website. Can you have this option or the option of you just adding events for others to see and then they register or pay to be ableto secure seats to attend? Can we have both activated if we want in the theme?

  19. YubiBillion says:

Hello again, Just saw the answer to question 4. i can turn on or off the event submission feature for users. I can even set the status of an added event if I decide to allow users to add events and set status to draft or submit. I also played a little more with the demo I created and saw the payment options for adding events. I am going to check for settings for payment for eventsI add to the site as well. On the whole, very impressive functionality.

  20. Vikram says:

We want the visitors to register and pay for events – is this feature supported by this theme ?

    1. Vedran says:

Yes, it is Vikram. The Submit Event form is monetized, you can charge for submissions.

  21. Zinocks says:

    Hi!

Could i use this template in other languages like Spanish, Catalan? It’s easy to translate?

    Thanks!

    1. Vedran says:

Yes, you will be able to translate it into other languages. The theme comes with a .po gettext file. If you translated such files in the past, you’ll have no problems translating Events. If you don’t have prior experience with this, check out our translation tutorial in our docs center.

      1. Pete says:

Do not confuse that with multi language.

It allows the site to have it’s labels changed from English to ONE other language.

Other plugins can help with offering more than 1 language, but they rarely work with custom functionality, unless built in

        (please advise if wrong)

        1. Vedran says:

          Hi Pete
The question wasn’t about multilanguage, it was about translating the theme. In that case the .po file is more than adequate. Those that need to run multiple languages at the same time can check out Transposh. The plugin works great with most themes
