Drumrolls please: Daily Deal theme for WordPress arrives!

Posted on

Deal websites are currently making massive buzz around the internet. And why not? It’s a brilliant idea that facilitates win-win situations for everyone involved i.e. buyers, sellers and administrators of the site. But till now, not everyone willing to start such a site could actually do so because of heavy resources and skills it required. So we thought of bridging the gap and making the Daily Deals WordPress theme that helps anyone create a Daily Deal site in 5 minutes.

View Live demo and Buy this theme. Start your daily deal website today.

In a nutshell, our Daily Deal theme helps you setup a mid-level deals site where sellers can list their deals (digital products, coupons, vouchers, etc) and you, as an administrator, can approve, reject, edit and manage them. The deals run through the time duration specified by the seller or till the item stock lasts (of course, this can be altered and moderated by the admin). The buyers buy the deals and payment is processed through various payment gateways. At each of these events, relevant notification emails are sent to the admin, sellers and buyers. The administrators and sellers can mutually agree upon the payment split.

See the live demo of the Daily Deals theme. Detailed feature list is on the product page where you can buy the Daily Deals WordPress theme. Now let me describe some of the key features and benefits of our Daily Deal theme.

Deal listings by sellers and moderation by admin

Enthusiastic sellers can make an account on your site and start selling their products. We’ve made the process of submitting a deal so simple that it hardly takes 5 minutes. Once the seller submits the deal, the admin is notified via email.

While submitting deal, sellers are offered wide variety of options that they can fill in to get the maximum attention of the potential buyers. Besides the regular options like regular and discounted prices and deal types, they are provided a rich text editor that accepts HTML markup. For non-virtual products, sellers can plot their location on an interactive map and can mention shipping costs. To avoid spamming, we’ve even provided reCaptcha security.

The admin then approves or reject the deal. Relevant notification email is sent to the seller. The admin can also choose to feature a deal on homepage. When a deal expires, the admin is notified, too.

Of course, the admin can also add a new deal from the backend. It is as easy as creating a new post in WordPress.

Moreover, sellers are provided with their own seller dashboard where they can setup their personal profiles and view the number of deals they’ve offered and purchased. It also helps sellers connect themselves more personally with potential buyers.

Buying deals

Potential buyers can buy a deal in less than 3 steps. We’ve made sure you get maximum conversions possible and that’s why eliminated unnecessary steps in the buying process.

The buyers provide their contact info, select one of the many payment gateways and proceed for payment. Like I said earlier, the payment split between the seller and the admin is required to be done by mutual agreement.

Transaction reports

Admin can see full featured and easy to follow transaction reports in the backend. The reports show the buyer/seller details, number of items, deals sold, deal status, etc.

The reports can also be exported as CSV. The reports also have a search function inbuilt to quickly locate a deal by payment type or transaction ID.

Yes of course, like all our themes, Daily Deal theme too, comes with 5 beautiful color schemes.

The sole purpose for creating such a theme is to make it easy and affordable for a beginner to launch and maintain a deals site. Yes, this theme is one of the grandest endeavor of Templatic itself but we are happy that we could pull it off well :) Once again, we’d like to thank all the beta testers who helped us rectify errors and also provided us their valuable feedback. We hope you like this WordPress theme. Don’t wait, your dream daily deal site is minutes away!

Here is a short introductory video of our Daily Deal theme for WordPress:

A very interesting and unique niche WordPress theme. Well done.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Good to have you back and thanks for your comments jonathan. Spread the words

    2. Vedran says:

Awesome, I’m glad you like it. Sites like that benefit everyone, there can never be too much of them :)

  2. Coupon Codes says:

Wow! Good job Bhavesh. I love so much Facebook login and submit deal section.

    1. Cristian B. says:

      Work for you?

      1. R.Bhavesh says:

Why, doesn’t it work for you?

        Would your critics + feedback.

      2. R.Bhavesh says:

Please also make sure under theme settings > General settings > Facebook Plugin Support.. you have “Enable” selected.

        1. Cristian B. says:

I refer to your demo. :)

  3. rohan says:

This is awesome, I’m getting it. How difficult would it be to change the header to something that matches my site’s background?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Very easy. The main background is a whole image and you can replace the entire image with your own if you wish to.

  4. rohan says:

Also, is there a way to have affiliates for this? i.e have other sites send traffic and be compensated for each sale? What would you propose as a solution if it’s at all possible?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Affiliate module, at the moment is not included with the theme. However, if this is a popular request, we will include this into the next upgrade

      1. rohan says:

Thanks man, this seriously rocks! I’m buying this weekend. WOOT!!!

  5. Anders says:

Very good. Just one important feature that I can not find. Its about LOCATION. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this? I mean if you buy a deal and get discount on a restaurant it must be very very important where its located, or mabye I think wrong. Same with the e-mail..

    Thanks..

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

The theme already have this built in. By default, its disabled but if you enable it, the user will have an option to generate google map which will be shown in the deal description and also it will be printed in the coupon after the user purchases it.

I suggest give it a try it on our server by request a test site.

      1. Anders says:

        Thanks!

      2. Olena says:

Hi, I enabled google map and it’s still not showing in the deal description…

Also how does Minimum purchases work? Does it mean a customer is not charged until minimum purchases reached to provide the deal?
        Thanks

  6. Teej says:

It would be awesome to have an affiliate module as well as a plugin which can be used on other blogs (that shows deals from a deals blog). But I guess an affiliate module would be more awesome.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

This is a second request. Let us see for a few days. If this proves to be a popular request, we will add this into the theme.

  7. Bernardo says:

    Good Job.

Now you can use this job to create the Kickstarter clon theme. I thing this could be a good base for the project.

    Good job again

  8. Celina says:

This is one great theme! I am curious how I, as the site owner, could profit from this. Is there an automatic process to charge a percentage of each deal a seller posts?

I second the requests for affiliate module and the plugin as mentioned by Teej.

    Thanks.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      1) The admin has ability to generate reports. After the deal expires, admin can manually send the payment to the deal provider from his account (where users paid) after deducting pre-agreed revenue share.

      2) yet another request for affiliate module. guess we will have to provide an update soon on this one.

  9. R.Bhavesh says:

That has to be one of the most creative comments we’ve ever had :)

    BOOM!

  10. Shawn says:

Hi looks very good… couple of questions:

    1) is there multi city / geo location filters like groupon’s “See the Daily Deal for: Orlando”

    2) “after deducting pre-agreed revenue share” is this an automated percentage in the system made clear to merchants and/or different for each merchant? Or is the idea just a manual thing outside WP done by site admin by contacting merchants about revenue share either pre-sale/post-sale?

    3) Any purchase threshold to active the deal? So like:

“54 Buys Now – Minimum of 10 is met! Deal is now active”?

what happens to $$ of purchases if deal threshold is not met?

    4) Now Deals or map view of deals would be slick.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Basically, we created this theme only to provide one deal at a time. Then after the initial preview, we saw the user interest and as per some of the user’s suggestion, extended this theme to have more than one deal per day. So, answer to most of your questions is no – because this is not targeted for giant deal portal and instead, small to mid level sites.

There is a tipping point in the system. Yes, it will take payment from clients but will not send the coupon/product access unless minimum items are sold. Once it reaches there, everyone gets access. If not, the payment will be refunded to the clients manually.

    2. Shawn says:

Thanks…. sorry what was the answer to # 2 above?

      1. R.Bhavesh says:

Here’s how its possible with this theme.

        1) When a user submits a deal, communicate with em and define the revenue share. This can also be mentioned on your “How it Works?” page
        2) Once the deal is over, generate deal report and calculate the money that was deposited in your account.
        3) Deduct your pre-agreed share and send rest of the revenue.
        —————-
Q: Why we didn’t include this in our theme by default?

        Answer:
        1) Because it includes third party payment integration + permission. Its way too complex to build and we will have to depend on third party payment gateways who won’t even talk to us.

        2) Chargebacks and refunds are another issues which would completely mess up how the setups are done and would bring in rage from the buyers (of which we are not even remotely a part of)

  11. Rodney says:

I didn’t see it in the demo, but are their email/web templates for the actual coupons that get sold from the site?

Are the coupons auto generated, or does the merchant have to upload an image for the coupon for the person to print out?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Good to see you back in here Rodney :)

Print Coupons are auto-generated with site logo, coupon code, address, Map if provided and contact info.

      There are two coupon types.
      1) One coupon code that you manually enter
      2) Unique coupon code. One per user. You can manually enter the coupons and if not, the system will auto generate them.

  12. Miklos says:

    Average thursday … :))

  13. Cristian B. says:

In the footer you have a little problem with Templatic icon allignment (Chrome).

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Fixed. Thanks for the heads up Cristian.

  14. Robin says:

    Hi,

There are limited Payment gateways available in the theme and a mail to your helpdesk confirmed that the template cannot be customized.

How can I add new Payment Gateway?

    Btw excellent theme.

    regards
    Robin

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Thanks robin.

Design, css, xhtml etc. ofcourse can be customized. But unfortunately, payment gateway integration is not an easy job and requires real programming skills. Also this is demands lots of time and we will not be able to provide support for this.

  15. Vedran says:

    Hahaha. Awesome comment.

    …and so true! :)

  16. Jay says:

    Smokin Theme!
What’s the green box in the featured ad on the homepage?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      What green box? :)

      1. R.Bhavesh says:

oh that greenbox + green line is progress bar. Shows deal progress (how many items/pieces left for the deal. If its not set, it will count the pending time unless the deal expires.

        You like?

  17. Paul Saunders says:

    Hi

I am about to become a Club member of Templatic love the themes that you have developed.

However couple of requests to add to the calls – yes link in the affiliate system to the daily deal theme

Second the daily deal theme needs to have location selection as many sites will want to develop niche daily deal sites and multi cities would be truly cool.

As for that news that you headed to a Kickstarter clone concept for a future theme is interesting to me I am in the online radio and music business and would love to have that theme developed

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Thanks for yet another vote for Affiliate system Paul. It will be included in next update of the theme.

Location selection while important would turn this theme into massive portal and requires significant programming. We are not really sure at the moment whether we are going to include this.

Kickstarter clone is an interesting concept but again, the main challenge there is the revenue share. Main backbone of that theme is money and we will not have even a slight control over the third party gateways that would control this. There are challenges like refund and chargebacks etc. Sure, others might do a theme that only “looks” like kickstarter but not actually “work” like one. And I am sure, templatic users expect a bit more from us than that.

And for this reason, I don’t think its feasible to release the theme.

  18. irfan says:

I definately would buy it if there was a physical goods option aswell as i am a t-shirt seller and really love the theme!

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Infact, this is already possible.

There are 4 options for you when you submit deal that you can see on the demo’s submission form.

Select – “Coupon Email/Print – Product” and you should be able to add shipping cost, tax etc. as well.

      1. irfan says:

That will work just fine if you dont need product options with no inventory control. But currently it is not possible to add a product with options/inventory. Am i wrong? For examle:

Nice T- shirt colour blue size Large available quantity 25
Nice T- shirt colour blue size XXL available quantity 44
        …etc

        Kind Regards

        1. R.Bhavesh says:

          You are right irfan.

We have e-commerce themes with solid options for this. I’d suggest offering a sale price on t-shirts and use it.

  19. Andrew says:

One thing i would like to see is the selling of deals from other deal sites like Groupon, LivingSocial etc.

So you could add those deals and redirect them to their sites, earning an affiliate income from their deals.
Add that and it would be a truly awesome theme.

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Yes. It’s already there if you mean..

“I should be able to add a deal, image, content, deal terms, when it ends etc. BUT, when user clicks on Buy Now button, he will be taken to Groupon site using my affiliate link where he will be actually buying the deal.”

If that’s what you mean, its the first option we added. Simply add you affiliate link in Buy Now button while submitting a deal :)

      1. Andrew says:

That is exactly what i meant!
        Super!

Thanks for such an amazing theme guys. You just got yourself a new customer :)

  20. rohan says:

Hi, quick question about the affiliate system. I know you can’t say for sure, but what’s your guess on when this would be available?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Rohan,

We have a business theme coming up next.

Let the theme get traction and once we get enough feedback, we will prepare a list of the things to be added in next update. Then we build, test and beta test it. I’m assuming this would take atleast 4 weeks. No promises though (because its not practical :)

  21. john says:

    Hi

I noticed a few bugs you could maybe take a look at.

I am using the firefox browser.

When viewing the featured deal on the front page the facebook like icons are too close to the mail to a friend icon. the spacing needs ajusted to move the envelope and the text a bit more over to the right.

When you are on the home page and look below the featured deal to the deals of the day, and click the read more text on one of those deals, then look at the icons you will notice the facebook like is all crushed up and there is the word sign showing up over the little envelope.

    Please take a look.

    Hope this helps out.

    Regards

    John

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

Thanks for the heads up John. We will fix this today itself.

      1. john says:

        Hi

1/ The featured deal still has a problem.

“The featured deal on the front page facebook like icons are still too close to the mail to a friend icon. the spacing still needs adjusted to move the envelope and the mail to a friend text a bit more over to the right. ”

2/ This problem below looks to be sorted, thanks.

“When you are on the home page and look below the featured deal to the deals of the day, and click the read more text on one of those deals, then look at the icons you will notice the facebook like is all crushed up and there is the word sign showing up over the little envelope.”

Can you take a look when you get a minute.

        Regards

        John

  22. severus says:

You have told several times that Google Maps are off by default but they could be switch on… but I have not found how to set the map on. Could you please tell me how or send me to the link where you explain it?

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Explore the settings :)

Go to wp-admin > daily deal > theme settings > general settings and you should see the options for map.

  23. Saqib   says:

    Robin,

Actually you were using different type of permalink structure and that’s why it was leading to 404 page. I changed your permalink to postname, and now it works. Also to display 3 deals on homepage, you have to insert “T Category wise deals” widget to “Homepage: Below Todays deals” area.

You can always create a support ticket, if at some place you face any problem.

  24. Airess says:

I like this theme so much I liked it on facebook. Hope to win. Absolutely Love It!!! One of the absolute best so far. GREAT JOB!

  25. john says:

    Hi

Can you change the text within the deal price descriptions.

    For example,

CURRENT PRICE $200 to NORMAL PRICE £200 or SHOP PRICE $200

OUR PRICE $190 to DEAL PRICE $200 or SALE PRICE $200

If you cant do that I think it would be a good update to add to the template.

    Regards

    John

    1. R.Bhavesh says:

      Hey John,

These are the textual changes and they are possible. Write to us at our forums or helpdesk and we would love to guide you on how to do this.

      1. john says:

        Hi

Thanks for your reply thats good to know.

On my August 10th at 6.02pm post, I also mentioned about an icon misalignment problem relating to the featured deal on the front page and also when you click through.

        The problem is still there.

Just bringing this back up for your attention in case you missed it.

        Regards

        John
